1600s
The Brethren & The Escape
In the early 1600s, the Tetsche family belonged to the Unitas Fratrum, one of Europe’s earliest Protestant movements.
When their faith came under persecution in Bohemia, they chose exile over surrender. Carrying their beliefs and traditions north, their journey eventually led them to Herrnhut, a refuge for the Brethren.
They left their homeland behind.
The faith, the craft and the Tetsche name endured.
1700s
Tetsche in the City of Blades
In Solingen, a city renowned across Europe for its blades, the Tetsche family became recognized bladesmiths, known for their craftsmanship in steel.
Among them was Johann Tetsche, an early 17th-century bladesmith associated with the ceremonial Page’s Sword, a piece preserved to this day as an example of European craftsmanship from the period.
Across generations, the Tetsche name appeared on swords and sabres shaped with an understanding of steel, balance and precision. Surviving pieces bearing the name remain to this day.

1773
Christiansfeld & The Finer Craft
In 1773, the Brethren founded Christiansfeld in Denmark, bringing with them a culture shaped by faith, discipline and craftsmanship.
Over generations, the craft evolved. Steel gave way to finer mechanics, and a tradition once expressed through blades found new forms.
Today, Tetsche Watches carries that name forward.

Today, Tetsche Watches begins a new chapter. Our ambition is to bring the Tetsche name back as a mark of quality, now expressed through mechanical watches built with respect for craftsmanship, materials and precision.
